It’s just all in photoshop. I think I really should try out painter if I want to go _really_ painterly, but I just can’t get to grips with it.
I just use the normal brush and vary the opacity. Sometimes the softness too. I know it could be much better using the same techniques.
Oh and I slapped a couple of textures ontop which does 90% of making it look interesting ;x
